Shine a Light on Service Excellence

Whenever we see excellence, we should always shine a light on it.☀️ Negativity naturally gets amplified and broadcasted. Let’s each do our part to amplify and broadcast excellence.

I’ll go first! Recently, I was in Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and experienced something I will never forget.

I had just gotten off a long overnight flight from Sao Paulo, Brazil and was basically sleepwalking.🥱

So I stopped at one of the food hall restaurants in Terminal A to grab some breakfast, and just as I finished paying, Brandon Nixon gave me a warm greeting and presented me with cutlery neatly wrapped in a napkin!🍴

Brandon exemplified what “owning your work” means. He was steadily moving around: clearing tables, greeting guests, presenting cutlery, straightening chairs, restocking cutlery and napkins…you name it and he was doing it!

❤️Words can’t adequately describe how much LOVE he poured into his role. He reminded me of Colossians 3:23 NLT: “Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.”

To be clear, he didn’t work for that specific food hall restaurant…he was working the entire food hall with multiple quick-service restaurants in one of the world’s busiest airports!✈️🌎

I told Brandon that I was super impressed with him and thanked him for the love and pride he did his job with.

As many of you know, I grew up working in luxury hotels and currently travel the world training and consulting with companies on the service/leadership excellence.

So I get excited when see people like Brandon who “gets it.” Service excellence is about treating whomever you are with like ROYALTY. And consistently do so regardless of what your role is.💡

Let’s all lift up the “Brandon’s” of the world. Excellence deserves to be amplified and broadcasted.
