Waiting To Be Led

My friend, Kenny, and I had a great dialogue recently about leadership. While we may not agree on the necessity of leadership, we do agree that far too many people wait to be led by others. Each one of us already has the gifts, drive and experience needed to contribute in a meaningful and significant way.

Too many of us consistently wait to be prodded by someone else in order to move…and do…and be productive. No perceived limitation, disability or condition can stop you, unless you consistently allow it to stop you. So step forward. Break loose from your past. Commit that no matter what you did yesterday…today will be even better. I will push more. I will do more. I will accomplish more. Today, I proclaim that I will be more than I was yesterday. Don’t you see it? The light inside of you is stronger than any doubts you may have about your ability. You are strong! Born to step forward. Born to do great works. Born to build, develop and accomplish things. You are what the world has been waiting for. It is time to become who you are meant to be.

Today, wherever you are…whatever you do…whoever you are working with…do YOUR part with excellence. Do your part to hold things together. Do your part to make the team stronger. Don’t worry about what the other person is doing. Don’t blame someone else. As hard as it may be. As frustrating as it may seem. Do your part today. At the end of the day, you should be able to look back and confidently say, “Today, I have done everything I can possibly do to use the skills, gifts and experience that I have been blessed with”.

Speech impairments won’t stop me from speaking. Physical disabilities won’t stop me from writing. Prison cells won’t hold back my spirit to touch lives, and my dismal finances won’t stop me from giving to others in mind. I am alive and I will live! Not for myself, but for the glory of who created me.

My life will not be a waste, and I will not wait to be led.
